Dutch rose breeding brothers, Robert and Martijn Ilsink of Interplant Roses, are expanding their activities with the opening of a brand new facility in Harmelen, centrally located in The Netherlands only a short distance from the main flower centre of Aalsmeer.
After an extremely busy few months at the end of 2016, the doors of this multifunctional breeding centre will finally open in the course of January 2017. Moving its facilities seemed to be a logical step for Interplant, as the current head office and research centre in Leersum have become too small to meet the increasing demand of all valued Interplant customers worldwide.
The decision to expand was the obvious step forward. As Robert Ilsink, CEO of Interplant summarizes: “we are able to increase our breeding program for both our cut flower and garden rose ranges, we can be of better and quicker service to our worldwide clientele and we can work much more efficiently”. The new location offers Interplant the possiblity of further expansion in the future.
Two years ago, it was decided that the time was right to take the next step in securing Interplants place as one of the leading rose breeders in the world. Of course, the decision was not taken lightly, and even then only after thorough research by a great team of professionals. “Interplant is confident about the future and believes that there is and will be a strong market for our rose varieties” says Martijn, CFO of Interplant. In 2016, Interplant East Africa also completed their Phase III expansion program. Robert firmly declares: “Our powerful staff in The Netherlands, operating closely with our colleagues in Kenya and our worldwide agency network, gives us the strong belief that we are ready for a rosy future!”.
As this press release goes out, the first seedlings are being planted of which the very first seedling was planted under the supervision of Mr Gerrit Pieter Ilsink, one of the founders of Interplant Roses and father of Robert and Martijn. Robert and Martijn are the third generation of the family now responsible for the future of Interplant.
