Interplant Roses B.V. NetherlandsThe head office of Interplant Roses is located in Leersum, which lies in the beautiful wooded centre of Holland and forms part of the “Utrechtse Heuvelrug” National Park. From here, a team of experienced professionals overseas all the Interplant Roses activities across the world. The head quarters is the axis around which the whole worldwide business revolves. All the core activities are initiated from The Netherlands and in the end it is also the place where all the various worldwide developments are finally brought together. At the Headquarters, Interplant owns a specially designed breeding house where advanced computer technology optimalises conditions for the testing of new varieties. In this breeding house, about 30.000 crossings are made by manual pollination every year. The resulting seedlings are then tested for a further two years. After these two years a selection of the most promising seedlings are sent out to test centres all over the world. The performance of the seedlings under differing climatic conditions is observed closely and no new variety is ever brought to market without full discussions with the local testing agents. The next step is, back at Headquarters , to collect all the data from these worldwide tests and discussions in order to decide which seedlings are best suited to which market. Once this decision has been made then, finally, our licensing department takes care of all relevant legal aspects such as trademark and plant breeders rights registration. In accordance with its mission statement of Vision, Innovation and Mutual Growth, Interplant continues to focus on the innovation, broadening and improvement of the existing range as well as on the development of new varieties. Besides roses for the cutflower industry, Interplant is also developing new garden rose varieties. The breeding of garden roses has always been a major genetic source for the development of spray roses. Currently, the first steps are being taken to bring fragrance and ruffled flower types from the garden roses into the spray roses as well. |
