Water conservation: Interplant’s State-of-the-Art closed circuit recycling system

Ever increasing global populations and their increasing water demands, have focused international attention on water availability to sustain life and industry. A recent focus group of leading Kenyan growers met in Naivasha, Kenya, to review progress made by the Lake Naivash Growers Group, as well as other growers from Mt Kenya and Central Kenya on water conservation. Interplant East-Africa has chosen to invest in a state-of-the-art closed circuit recycling system, based on reverse osmosis and UV light to maintain water quality.

Robert Ilsink says: ‘Interplant  has been a family business breeding roses for 40 years and we have taken the commercial decision to set up our new show house in Naivasha using the environmentally sound principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and water conservation through closed circuit, computer controlled systems. In spite of our relatively small size of 1.5 hectares, we are also building a rainwater harvesting reservoir of 900 cubic meters’.
